I am a single, white American man in his early fifties, a former English teacher and foreign missionary who has stumbled into the world of the homeless in America.
I discovered that what I thought about, expected and wanted to accomplish with the homeless needed to undergo a radical change in philosophy. The reality of anything is almost always much different within than it appears to be without.
Follow me as I arrive, (literally) fat, dumb, and uhappy at a small, Texas homeless shelter and (hopefully) learn who the homeless are, what they need and how to help.
